I recently attended Damnjan’s webinar titled “Privacy in AI Models” and found it exceptionally insightful.

Although designed for people with no technical background, Damnjan did not shy away from demonstrating how the underlying machine-learning techniques actually work – from linear and logistic regression to neural networks and modern LLMs.

Seeing these concepts illustrated in real time made it clear why training data quality matters, why models sometimes hallucinate, and why sensitive information must be handled with extreme care.

I left with a deeper understanding of how AI systems process our documents, the implications for personal data, and the practical steps we can take to protect our privacy as well as the privacy of our clients.

A practical, understandable (and lawyer-friendly 😊) crash course in how AI “thinks”: how AI models are built, how data can be deleted from training datasets (and sometimes even from the model itself), how hash functions and anonymisation work – all shown through live examples and demos.

I didn’t learn to code – that wasn’t the goal – but I definitely saw what’s possible when privacy is kept in mind.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to truly understand how an LLM works.

And to have more fun pestering clients later when they say something “can’t be done” or is “too complicated.” 🙂
